Pastor’s Pen

Saturday April 11, 2026:

Hi everyone,

What would you expect Jesus to say when he was first raised from the dead?
Probably something like “I told you so!” or “I can’t wait to see the look on Pilate’s face!” but no, we find Jesus connecting to his believers and calling them to go deeper into the Scriptures.
How amazing that even when Jesus has achieved the ultimate victory over sin and death and established a forever kingdom, he would continue to think of us. Study the Scriptures to become firmer in the truth so no-one can snatch away the faith Jesus has given you.
Tomorrow we will consider what Jesus may have shared to the two disciples walking to Emmaus. Read Luke 24:13-49. One of the greatest Bible Studies never to be recorded. Jesus then proceeds to visit the Disciples back in Jerusalem and again continues to call them to check out the Scriptures. (Clearly the gospel writers did as they heavily reference from the Old Testament to prove that Jesus is the Messiah!)
As we are currently in the middle of school Holidays, fun worksheets will be available for the children and they can show Pastor Alan their efforts at the end of the service.
Toowoomba Wesleyan fellowship is hosting a Women’s Alive day called “Stories of Redemption to Revival!” on May 9 from 9am to 1pm. $25 per person, including Morning Tea and Lunch! Sounds like a fun road trip for any ladies that are interested. (Flyer attached at end of email)
The Church Family Camp weekend in May is filling up. Come and stay for all or part of the weekend. The other option is to come along  as a day visitor. Get your registrations to Debbie asap. The messages from National Superintendent, Lex Akers, promise to help us grow in our faith. Don’t miss this incredible chance to hear a top speaker in Childers.  The flyers are available on the entry table.
It was such an amazing Easter Sunday service as Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby shared with us. Rex challenged us about facing life challenges and he sure has had plenty of challenges. His message is on YouTube at Childers Wesleyan Methodist Church Sermons if you missed out.  Rev Dr. Rex Rigby Easter Sunday
The Mapleton High School Camp in July is filling up fast. We would love to have as many of our youth go as possible and we will help sponsor any who would otherwise miss out. Registration forms are on the information table at the door. Please talk to Pastor Alan about sponsorship.
Next Sunday (April 19) we have some of our youth musicians playing in the worship team. Music is such a gift. Thanks to Kerryn and Laurie and Bev who work so hard to help develop our young musicians.
It’s great to be hearing lovely feedback from folk in our Childers community about the Cross and Stacker Stone on our Worship Centre. We are all looking forward to being able to move in….the Lord’s timing is always right!!
Most regular Weekly Studies and Youth are in recess over the holidays. We will be back in week 2 of the next term.  Prayer meeting continues each week at Judy”s home.
Keep praying for one another. We all face life challenges and having the Lord’s help is so important.
I look forward to sharing worship with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday April 4, 2026:

Good Morning Everyone,

Can you imagine how the disciples felt on the Sabbath following the crucifixion of Jesus? The one who had provided such optimism about change had been crushed by the combined forces of Roman and Jewish oppressors. All hope was gone, death had come yet again. The disciples were in hiding wondering if they would be next.
But of course we know that wasn’t the end of the story. Sunday morning brought amazing reports that the guarded tomb had exploded with life. The entrance stone had blown out, Angels were visiting, Soldiers were cowering like dead men and Jesus was no longer in the grave.
A fully alive Jesus would appear that evening in the hiding place of the disciples.
Wow, what an enormous victory over Law, Empire, Sin and Death!
Tomorrow at 9.30am we will celebrate Resurrection Sunday; we have the honour of Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby coming to share with us from John 11. We will also be offering communion. What an absolute celebration!
The completion of our Worship Centre is getting a lot closer. Keep an eye out for the building updates from Mark Slynko for latest information.
We will be going to Forest View on Tuesday to sing Hymns to the residents. Be there by 9:45am for a 10am start if you would like to join us.
Keep those Family Camp registrations rolling in, it is only one month away.  High School Camp registrations are also now open (and filling fast) so get your registrations in early.  Both forms are available on the entry table.
It is now school holidays so most of our weekly activities are in recess. Check if you are unsure as many folk are busy with family or away.
I look forward to celebrating Resurrection Sunday with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Thursday April 2, 2026:

Hi everyone,

On the cross, Jesus cried “Father forgive them for they know not what they do!”(Luke 23:34) Here is the full gospel. Our Lord dying for our sins desiring that his accusers who put him there be forgiven.
Jesus sees all men worth forgiving for they are blinded from the truth by the sin within. He hangs upon a cross to declare the truth of grace, hope and forgiveness.
For 2000 years now the whole world is reminded at Easter of this great act of love.
May we all turn our eyes upon Jesus this weekend  and be in awe of the Lord’s desire to rescue all.
Tomorrow, we are holding the Good Friday service at 9:30am at the Cultural Centre. Please be early as this will be a focussed time and afterwards we will not be having any morning tea. Be praying for all who come as we consider the message- “The one question on everyone’s lips.” (Luke 22:66-23:43)
We do not need to pack up afterwards so it will be easier on Easter Sunday to get ready to come and listen to Pastor Rex Rigby.
I look forward to worshiping with you tomorrow. If you are away for Easter may you be blessed with His joy as you travel.
Pastor Alan

Saturday 28th March 2026:

Good morning everyone,

There is a beautiful verse in Genesis that holds great strength for daily living even to this day. Joseph had just spent 22 years living in very difficult circumstances because of the treacherous actions of his brothers. They had sold him as a slave, and told his Dad a wild animal must have killed him. By the Lord’s hand, Joseph was able to survive and thrive in Egypt, miraculously going from prisoner to Prime Minister. Listen to the response he gives his brothers.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” (Genesis 50:20)
If we can trust God in the tough times, he can use us for his salvation purposes.
Tomorrow we continue to consider the greatest salvation purpose as we journey towards the cross. Pre-read Luke 11:14-32 and discover how sin hardened the Jewish generation really was. His death upon the cross was motivated by their closed hearts.
What a wonderful movie night for Youth break up last night! Thanks to Gail and Trevor for setting up the outdoor theatre.
Church Camp forms are available and if you wish to have a room inside, get your registrations to Debbie Grey ASAP. (Also, if you want to join the chocolate frog club it must be in by April 1!!)
Our district High School Camp is on again this year, July 5-10 in Mapleton.  As always, the numbers are filling up fast.  The forms are on the entrance table so if you know of any young people who would like to go, please give them one.  As a church, we know how pivotal this camp can be in a teenagers life, so we are committed to helping them get there.  Please don’t let the cost be a hurdle to them going, we will assist in covering the costs.  Please come and talk to me and it will remain confidential!
The Sunday School teachers are in need of assistants. You wont need to do any preparation or teaching, but just be there for practical help. Maybe you can do this once a month? Talk to Gail about being part of the team.
As we draw closer to moving into the new Worship Centre, can we all be thinking of how we can be of service to the Lord, and each other, in the new building!  There will be many ways to serve and contribute. E.G.  Welcoming people at the door, morning tea roster, cleaning roster, doing some gardening…and many other ways. Please commit this to prayer so we can have a smooth transition!
Good Friday service 9:30 am this coming Friday April 3. Message, Pastor Alan.
Easter Sunday service 9:30am next Sunday April 5. Message, Pastor Rex Rigby.  A wonderful time to invite family and friends as Rex’s testimony is powerful.
Bible studies are on this coming week, but go into recess for the school holidays.
I will send out another email this morning from Kathy Eddie, our Wesleyan Community Care Co-ordinator outlining the needs of the Bundaberg Church following the recent flooding.  Please consider assisting in this matter as these guys are our nearest neighbours and they are in great need, they are an important part of our Wesleyan family.
Be praying for one another. That we might love as we should and forgive as we should. That grace may be our blessings to our community.
I look forward to sharing worship with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 21st March 2026:

Hi everyone,

As we close in on the celebration of Easter in a few weeks, we are reminded of how easily we can interpret events through our temporary thinking.
A suffering Jesus offends our idea of a loving God. Surely, if you are the Messiah you could get off the cross and rescue us also, cried out the criminal dying next to him. (Luke 23:39) In that moment, we may side with the call of the dying man. Without the benefit of hindsight, we would struggle to see past the immediate suffering. Yet, when Jesus rose from the dead, it became clear that Jesus had defeated sin and death for us all. He was forever our Saviour. Now we have hope in this life and life beyond the grave!
As Billy Graham said, we are to seek a cross not a cushion!
Tomorrow we start our Easter messages. We will be considering the timing of Jesus’ death in history, prophesy and redemption. Read Daniel 2:26-44 and Psalm 22 to prepare for the sermon.
We will also take up the Bougainville Bucket Offering to support the work on that Island.
It was great to have Ron and Julie Neller visit with us last week. If you missed the message just go to Youtube and type in Childers Wesleyan Methodist church to watch his Creation presentation..
On Friday 27th March at 4pm, the Combined Childers Churches are holding a “Stations of the cross”. (A walk around town stopping at various points to reflect on the journey to the cross) Please read the information on the back table if you are interested.
The May Family Camp information and registration is also on the back table. Book your place for an amazing weekend, get your registrations in early.
The latest Challenge newspaper is available. Take a free copy and plan to share it with someone who needs to know God’s love.
High School Camp details are available very soon, this is an invaluable time in the lives of our youth!
Please continue to pray for John Griffiths and his family following the death of his daughter, Janine, after a long battle with cancer.
Also, Rosemary Stark has had knee surgery this week and will be immobile for the next few weeks as she recovers.
Great news, the stair/ramp rails have been manufactured and should be onsite this week at the new Worship Centre.
There are many weekly fellowship activities, so check out all the details at the end of the Bulletin. Something for everyone.
Our Easter services will be Friday April 3 at 9:30am and Sunday April 5 at 9:30 am. We have Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby sharing on Sunday morning.
I look forward to sharing worship with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 14th March 2026:

Hi everyone,

The very first verse in the Bible tells us some powerful truth. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Here we see the 3 major creation points of time, space and matter. What we sometimes don’t see is that the Hebrew word for God in this verse is “Elohim”. Unlike the singular word  “Eloha,” it describes a Godhead working together to create everything.  Keep reading in the chapter and you will see how much easier it is to read -“Let us create” and “in our image”. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit together created the heavens (Sky)  and the earth.
Tomorrow we have a very special time of worship. We have our guest speaker,Dr Ron Neller, from Creation Ministries, and we also have a number of young musicians playing in the worship band. God willing, there is likely to be a lot of people coming along. May we ensure we fill in the seats in all the rows, so visitors feel welcome as they find somewhere to sit.
Today (Saturday morning) we are excitedly cleaning the Lord Street Building as we get very close to moving in.  Anyone interested in assisting with cleaning needs to be at the church at 8am with your own cleaning equipment.  It really shouldn’t take too long with a lot of helpers!  The Stacker Stone wall looks great and we await the railings to be delivered soon. Pray for the amazing opportunities to share the gospel to our community from this new Worship Centre.
Thank you to all who gave their Woollies Bricks for the Scouts. It is amazing how little things can bring so much joy to others.  There will still be a bag on the entry table for collection if anyone else has some.
Easter is only a few weeks away and we are excited that Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby will be sharing the Easter Sunday message. (A great opportunity to invite family and friends) His Biblical and personal insights will bless all who can be there. He claims to have been born into “the poorest house, in the poorest street, in the poorest suburb in Brisbane!”
Registration forms for the family camp in May will be available on the entry table this week.  Another great time for our growth in the Lord and with each other. Plan to come if you can!  Lock in May 1 – 4 in your diary.

Last night the Youth built their snowmen with crushed ice and we talked about God giving us seasons and creation.

Remember those who are unwell and needing to make hard decisions about where they will get their best care. Joe and Doris need our prayers as Joe’s health has deteriorated.
Keep praying for one another, we all need the Lord’s help in this troubled world. May the peace that passes all understanding be ours.
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 7th March 2026:

Good morning everyone,

We live in a rapidly changing world. There seems to be conflicts and wars happening across the world. Certainly the Middle East is teetering on multi-country fighting.
In Matthew 24, Jesus spoke of such days but with an assurance that they were just birth pangs. He says that many false claims will arise but we are to realise that when he returns all the world will see his coming, both east and west.
What a joy to know God has the future in His hands!
Tomorrow we are looking at Psalm 1, the gateway to praise. Let us discover that God wants to fully lead us.
Tomorrow we will be saying farewell to Bill and Angie as they move to Alice Springs, and Darren (Jacqui’s carer) who is shifting to Tasmania. May they know the peace that passes all understanding as they begin their next life adventures.
Thank you to all who are donating the Woollies Bricks to the Scouts. We were able to give a gift bag to them on Wednesday. We will continue to have a bag on the back table for further donations of bricks.
Next Sunday is our Creation speaker, Ron Neller. What an opportunity to hear about all the great discoveries of science and the creation of our world. Invite your friends and family. There will be some resources-books/DVDs/etc on display (and for sale) at the end of the service.
The Worship Centre has its Stacker Stone on the wall and we await the stair/ramp railings which are due soon. We will be organising a big clean up of the building very soon, this is something we can all participate in!!  Mark Slynko will have those details to us as soon as he can.
It’s great to see Naree back on her feet again after knee surgery. Christine is back home from hospital after sorting her foot infection. Karenne has had some sinus surgery on Thursday and is recovering slowly at home. Rosemary will be having her knee surgery on March 20. Beryl from Woodgate remains in hospital with infection issues that are slowly improving. It is so comforting that they all trust Jesus but keep praying for their recoveries and for all who are going through health challenges.
It’s less than a month until Easter. We look forward to having Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby share with us on Resurrection Sunday.
The Bougainville Bible College will be holding classes this month. Pray for the students and lecturers that they are safe and resourced as they learn.
Don’t forget the date claimer for our Church Camp to be held at Pierson Farms on Goodwood Rd, May 1 – 4.  Lock it in your diary now!!
Next Friday the youth are having fun building snowmen. I think I should get them to study Ice-Higher!! 😃
I look forward to sharing worship with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 28th February 2026:

Hi everyone,

This week ten of the Childers team went to the National Pastors and Leaders Conference at Coffs Harbour. It was a wonderful time of sharing ideas, fellowship and joy. (We even shared a meal with  Anthony Westphal, the new pastor at Gayndah!)
In the midst of the Conference, on Thursday morning, National Superintendent, Lex Akers, shared the passing of his dad overnight. Ray had been very unwell for some time. We were reminded that Ray had given his life to serving the Lord within the Wesleyan Methodist Church…. that Ray had said “Yes” to going to PNG and departed within a few short weeks in1962 alongside the trained missionaries. Taken to  wild places that only a tough young farmer would go. He would later pastor and lead many Australian churches while still visiting PNG and The Solomon Islands. Ray’s amazing life calls us all to trust Jesus.
I have included a link of Rev. Ray sharing one of his amazing stories just a few short weeks ago.  It is a little difficult to understand as Ray had been ravaged by strokes, but persevere and read the text at the bottom to follow along.  It’s an amazing, miraculous story told firsthand by Ray.
May we all say “YES” to sharing our faith to those who need to hear about Jesus.
Tomorrow we continue to look at Psalm 23. If Jesus is our Shepherd what should we be experiencing? This is a great checklist to keep us on track and rejoicing.
Do we know that March begins tomorrow? Yes, so that means we are sharing communion in the worship. Let us prepare our hearts. Let no unforgiveness dwell in our souls.
Thank you for parking away from the Hardware Store and for sitting closer to the front of Church. We certainly rejoice that so many are attending fellowship on a regular basis. Pray that all may know Jesus as their Lord and Shepherd.
It’s only 2 weeks to go until Creation Speaker, Ron Nellor, will be with us. This is a huge opportunity to bring along your family and friends. Ron’s personal testimony is amazing and the Creation information will also impact all who come.
Easter is only a month away and we are blessed to have Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby bringing the Easter Sunday message. Another great opportunity to be amazed at a life well spent serving the Lord.
The Childers Scouts are collecting the Woolies bricks so we have a bag on the back table if you have any to give. Let us encourage and strengthen our soon to be neighbours.
The Church Camp on May 1- 4, will have National Superintendent Rev. Dr. Lex Akers as our speaker. Even if you can’t stay overnight, you are welcome to be day visitors.  The same as last year, it will be held at Peirson Farms on Goodwood Rd. so it’s an easy drive out.  Flyers will be available very soon but mark your diaries now!
With all these amazing speakers coming over the next 8 weeks, it is clear God is preparing us for new and exciting ministries in 2026 and beyond.
The monthly Hymn Singing at Forest View is on Tuesday. Be there by 9:45am so we are ready to start at 10am.
Children’s Camp director, Tahlia Grounds, emailed me excited that one of our Childers kids had registered for Somerset Camp in April. If you have children in Grades 3-6, this is a great opportunity for the kids to know more about Jesus and make wonderful friends. Information fliers on the back table.
I look forward to getting back to Wednesday Studies and hearing the discoveries about the life of John.  All of the regular weekly activities are on again this week.
Pray for one another, we all need it, even (especially) the Pastors,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 21st February 2026:

Hi everyone,

God declares to us in Isaiah 40:6-8 that his Word (The Scriptures) will last forever. In fact this is contrasted with the fleeting lives of men!
Perhaps this is why when we truly study the Bible regularly suddenly life starts to make sense.
When we finished our Bible studies on Wednesday, I gave everyone some fun homework to discover more about the apostle John. People left with a real enthusiasm to dig in and find out new things. Even within an hour afterwards I was being told by some people they had already found some things to share for next week!  Don’t miss out on being blessed by reading the Bible regularly. It will guide you to eternal thinking.
Tomorrow we will be looking at one of the most well known Psalms. It is only 6 verses long but contains such comfort to the soul. Yes, the 23rd Psalm jumps off the page and into your heart. Have you let the Lord become your Shepherd?
It’s also time for our Bougainville Bucket. The money raised is having amazing impacts for the people in Bougainville. National leaders can visit isolated fellowships, Bible Teachers can equip the Pastors and we can rejoice in all the wonderful testimonies of changed lives.
We may need to arrive a little earlier tomorrow if we wish to get a park close to the Community Centre. The Isis Club is holding a community Expo so parking may be at a premium. There are still lots of parks behind the Post Office which are only a short walk away.  (Please remember to leave parking available for the Hardware Shop)
Please don’t forget to sit closer to the front so that visitors can feel comfortable to find a seat when they arrive. Another way to express your desire to see people saved!
Our soon to be neighbours, the Scouts, are collecting the Woolworths “Bricks”  If you don’t want them, why not help our Scouts!  A collection bag will be on the information table for the next few weeks, then we will pass them on.
It is great to see the Stacker Stone being added to the front of our Worship Centre. Once the hand railings are installed we are very close to start moving in!! Lots of joyful volunteers for small jobs will be required and you can be part of the team. Mark Slynko will guide us on all of this in the coming weeks.
John Griffiths rang to say that although the bump on his head is cancer, it has not spread so it can be managed with medication. He praises the Lord for this and wishes to thank all those who have prayed for him.
Some of our fellowship leaders will be away in Coffs Harbour this week for a National Conference. Pray this will be a safe, refreshing and uplifting time.
A few date claimers for your diaries:-
March 15Ron Nellor from Creation Science will be speaking.
April 5 Easter Sunday, Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby will share with us. (National Superintendent Emeritus)
May 1-4 – Church Camp with Rev. Dr. Lex Akers (National Superintendent)
We are so blessed to have speakers of such high quality coming to share with us!
I look forward to catching up tomorrow. May God’s Eternal Word capture your heart.
Blessings, Pastor Alan

Saturday 14th February 2026:

Hi everyone,

What a joy to get some beautiful rain! The seemingly dead grass has leapt back to life and all the other plants look refreshed and growing.
Sometimes our spiritual lives have needed blessing from God. We were just going through the motions without any joy. But then we experienced a fresh touch from the Lord. A prayer answered, a relationship healed, someone dear declares their faith in Jesus?
How often the spring of refreshing joy starts with us going to prayer, earnest prayer!
Tomorrow we are honoured to have Missionary, Rev. David Collins sharing with us. After many years in the Solomon Islands, David is now taking up new challenges across the world. Don’t miss this amazing chance to connect with this faithful man.
The stage is being built at Lord Street and the stacker stone is about to appear at the entrance as we await the stair railing. We are getting closer to moving in. Now is the time to pray that we can powerfully shine in our community with this new resource.
Don’t forget that we have our Child Protection and Workplace Health and Safety training at 3pm on this Sunday afternoon at Peter and Janet’s home, 10 Hinkler st Childers. All who work in Children’s Ministries or are in leadership positions need to be there as this is mandatory training.
Tuesday Prayer meeting will be at Carol Weston’s home at 19 Redgwell Close, Apple Tree Creek this week.  All other weekly activities are continuing as usual.
Please be praying for John Griffiths who has had a bad health report. He will be going to Brisbane for further follow up.
Yesterday, I had a phone call from Rev. Dr. Rex Rigby, who is excited to be coming to share on Easter Sunday service. We are also excited to have him coming.
Our Youth Group did Board games last night and this coming week will be having a Bible Challenge about Jonah. Pray that our precious young people get blessed as they meet together at 6:30pm each Friday night.
Great to see so many men coming to Tuesday breakfasts at 7am at Drunk Bean Cafe. So much fun to get together. (And the Ladies also have breakfast on Friday at 7am)
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 7th February 2026:

Hi everyone,

As we finish our Pentecost series, the challenge from the Scriptures is clear.
If we are empowered to witness Jesus to the world filled by the Holy Spirit, why do so few shine Jesus in their daily lives?
Maybe we have a picture of a street preacher in our minds rather than a loving, forgiving and caring person. Jesus may have spoken to crowds but the simple interactions with broken individuals were the norm.
The Kingdom of righteousness will impact the world by how we love our neighbours. When we desire the best for others then the commands of our Lord make sense. No longer US and THEM, rather all can be saved and no longer be victims of this sinful and broken world.
Tomorrow we look at Acts 15, as the disciples respond to the call to make salvation conditional to more than believing in Jesus’ death upon a cross.
Next week, we are blessed to have our Missionary/Bible teacher, David Collins, sharing with us his new areas of mission. Come and hear how the Lord uses our lives to His glory. (The missions offering we take up each week in the buckets go to supporting David)
We are praising God for the gifts of money that have reduced our Building Loan from $145,000 down to $85,000 in the past week! If others are led to give just direct deposit to church account or place in offering, noting it as a gift for the Building Fund. God is calling us to get our hearts ready for the future ministries at 22 Lord Street.
We are holding our training afternoon for Child Protection and Work Health and Safety on Sunday Feb.15, at 3pm at Janet and Peter Anderson’s home. This essential and mandatory training enables us to do our ministries to Children and Adults. If you are in a leadership role of any kind or are ministering to children, this training is mandatory! Please let Pastor Amanda or Debbie Grey know you are coming, tomorrow verbally, or via email vervehealth@outlook.com.au   asap.
It’s great to see so many coming along to Breakfasts and to Bible studies. Moreso, the joy we share is contagious. The Woodgate crew have a new lady attending just because they were together in a joyful manner and attracted Glenda to ask who they were!
All of our weekly activities are back in full swing again –
Tuesday Men’s Breakfast Drunk Bean Cafe 7am
Tuesday Prayer Meeting Judy Marsh’s 9.30am
Wednesday Bible Study Woodgate (Steve & Naree’s) 10am
Wednesday Bible Study Childers (Barb’s home) 4pm
Friday Ladies Breakfast Drunk Bean Cafe 7am
Friday Youth Group Barb’s home 6.30pm
Please note that everyone is welcome to attend these events.

If you have a heart for children or youth, we need some additional people to assist with Sunday School as well as Youth Group.  Speak to Pastor Alan if this is an area you would like to minister in.

Thank you so much for not parking near the Hardware shop on Sunday mornings, it’s important to be respectful of our neighbours!
Keep praying for those who have health challenges, and pray for one another as we try to care in a broken world.
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 31st January 2026:

Hi everyone,

The year is quickly gathering momentum. I visited with Chappy Joe and the team as they made breakfast at Isis High School on Friday morning. Last night our Youth Group team planned out the term as we shared pizza.
The Wednesday Bible studies begin this week at Woodgate (10am) and Childers (3.30pm). Our Breakfasts at Drunk Bean  for men (Tuesdays 7am) and women (Fridays 7am) have been going for a few weeks now.
Prayer meeting continues every Tuesday at Judy Marsh’s home @ 9.30am,  and of course, we had a wonderful relaxed gathering at Woodgate Beach on Australia Day.
It is good for us to spend time together. After the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 we see the same desire for the Christians to meet through the week. We may call it community, but the Bible calls it family. What a blessing to be connected by the Lord through the Holy Spirit.
Tomorrow we continue our Pentecost series as Peter actually explains how and why the Holy Spirit was poured out on believers. This purposeful event must not be left to be reinterpreted by others, rather God himself has declared the truth in Acts 2:14-41.
Tomorrow we will share communion in the service, so please take the time to prepare your hearts for taking the elements.
Please continue to pray for John Griffiths, Joe Ferrugia, John Rankin, Ken Amy, and Sharon Mollers mum Elsie, as they continue to face health and other challenges. We also have a couple of people having medical procedures this coming week.  May God bring peace to their hearts. Keep praying for others in the fellowship as we all need God’s beautiful touch daily.
Don’t forget we have our Hymn Singing at Forest View this Tuesday at 10am.

Just a reminder to please not park anywhere near the Hardware shop on Sunday mornings, we must be respectful of the business owner.
We have some very special speakers coming up in the next few months.
Wesleyan Missionary David Collins will be with us on Sunday February 15 as he shares exciting plans for the future.
Ron Nellor from Creation Ministries will be sharing with us on Sunday March 15. This is a great opportunity to invite family and friends to hear amazing Creation truths.
National Superintendent Emeritus, Rev. Dr Rex Rigby will be our Easter Sunday speaker on April 5. Come to experience the deeper message of the pure heart from one of Australia’s leading Indigenous Christians.
Our current National Superintendent, Rev.Dr Lex Akers will be speaking on God’s New Beginnings for us at our Church Camp, May 1-4 at Pierson’s Farm.
(Can you believe all these powerful speakers are coming to Childers? God has got a plan for our future that has excitement written all over it)
I look forward to catching up with many of you tomorrow as we worship together,
Blessings Pastor Alan
PS The all churches Mighty Men of God Breakfast is next Saturday at Neil Grumley’s home at 7am.

Saturday 24th January 2026:

Hi everyone,

We can easily miss huge truths in the Bible if we assume we know it all already.

Acts 2:1 says “When the day of Pentecost came…” Here we have an incredible moment in time. When God’s timing is shown perfect. Hundreds of thousands of Jewish men gathered to celebrate a day when God gave the Law and Harvest.

This is when He sends the Holy Spirit to purify hearts and declare to all that salvation comes from believing in his son. Only the most hardened hearts could miss this proof that Jesus is the Messiah.

We all need to spend time in the Bible and not miss the powerful truths. On

Tomorrow we continue our series concerning Pentecost, Acts 2:1-13. There is so much we need to learn about the launch of the church.

Kids worksheets are available while the message is shared.

Our Australia Day Picnic is on Monday at 3pm at Woodgate Beach in the Park near the Bowls Club. This year it is a BYO picnic, not a BBQ.  You may also wish to buy some food from the local shops)  Don’t forget your chair/blanket, water and hat. Everyone is welcome, invite your family and friends!

Saturday 17th January 2026:

Hi everyone,

It’s great to be home after a 7 hour drive from Brisbane yesterday!!  A truck rollover meant we had a huge delay on the highway.
Unexpected circumstances are always challenging and I guess Paul found this as well when he had a 4 year Roman imprisonment that delayed all his plans. He was forced to draw back to his faith and learn to trust God’s providence in very confusing times. The letters he wrote from prison and the many people he encouraged from his house in Rome, may never have happened because the Jews had murderous plans to eliminate him at that time. He had full Roman protection instead while he ministered.
Tomorrow we are looking at Acts 2 through the eyes of the prophets. What was the purpose of Pentecost and have we grasped it even 2000 years later!
It’s time for our Bougainville Bucket offering. What a joy to help our sister church across the waves to share the gospel and train up leaders.
The Australia Day Picnic is only a week away. Come on down to Woodgate Beach at 3pm with your picnic and chair and enjoy the beach together. We meet together in the park near the Bowls Club.  To make the process a little easier for everyone this year, it will be BYO everything. Grab an information sheet from the table at the door.  Invite a friend.
Did you know we are having Creation Ministries join us on Sunday March 15? What a privilege to have Ron Nellor back with us. His personal testimony is powerful and his message of God’s beautiful Creation is amazing. Put this in your diary today and plan to bring folk along to this special event.
Thank you to those who help each week in the life of the church. Have you noticed our 79 year old Barrista named Gary or our joyful door greeter named Judy?  It’s fun to get involved. Please let Pastor Amanda or myself know if you are willing to help in practical ways.
Keep praying for one another. I had an exciting phone call from John Rankin on Friday giving thanks for a healing touch from the Lord!
Thank you for all your Birthday greetings. I am truly loved. What a joy to be part of a caring fellowship!
Bible Studies and Youth all launch for 2026 in February. Make sure you don’t miss out and plan to join a group this year.  Prayer meeting continues every Tuesday at Judy’s home.
I look forward to sharing worship with you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Saturday 10th January 2026:

Hi everyone,

We praise God for a very precious farewell for Brad Hobbs yesterday.
The message of hope in Christ was clear throughout his memorial service. The resurrection of Jesus assures us that we too will be resurrected if we have faith in him. Thanks again to all who assisted yesterday to ensure a beautiful expression of love and hope.
Tomorrow we are looking at Paul’s response to “Super Apostles” in 2 Corinthians12. Paul is ensuring these new, but false teachers do not impact the Corinthian fellowship. Paul teaches us all how we are to handle our imperfections and trust Christ. What a freeing message for us all!
Don’t forget we have worksheets for the children during the holidays that are available on the table at the door.
The National Pastors and Leaders Conference is in the last week of February in Coffs Harbour. We have a team attending from Childers so let us be praying for this gathering.
We are also excited to announce our May Family Camp will be happening again at Peirsons Farm, Goodwood. A very special speaker will be announced shortly.
Please be praying for those who have health challenges. John Rankin, Christine Stark, John Griffith and Sharon Moller’s Mum Elsie, are in need of our prayers at present (along with others).
Don’t forget we have an Australia Day Beach Picnic on Monday, January 26th at Woodgate. Bring your family and friends to this relaxed event. More details very soon.
As we move into a new year, we are seeking people to be involved in our various departments, especially children, youth and hospitality ministries. (it’s amazing how much joy is shared even by just putting out chairs) let Pastor Amanda or myself know if you have a desire to serve in the life of our fellowship even in the smallest way.
Just a gentle reminder to not park near the hardware store so we don’t impact the owners business in any way. (Plenty of parking directly behind the Cultural Centre with easy access to the main street)
I look forward to sharing in worship tomorrow. If you are away, may God encourage and bless you.
Pastor Alan

Saturday 3rd January 2026:

Hi everyone,

Have you ever realized how precise salvation is, that it isn’t driven by man’s religious efforts, but by full trust in Jesus that he has completed all requirements to open up the way to be saved?

Yes, by his sacrifice achieved by love and grace, God accepts all who come by faith in Christ alone. The apostle,Paul, who had many earthly claims to being righteous (Philippians 3:4-9) called all his efforts rubbish when compared to Christ’s amazing actions of salvation. That faith alone in Christ was sufficient to save, yet in coming to Christ asking him to forgive and save us, we experience being born into his Kingdom. We are a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Tomorrow we will look at the new creation from 2 Corinthians 5:14-21.
It is also the first Sunday of the month, so we will celebrate communion together for the first time in 2026. Come with a heart prepared through forgiving others and trusting Christ alone.
Children’s fun worksheets will be available during the message.
We continue to uphold Mllton, Lynette, Amanda and Mark as they grieve the loss of Bradley. We praise God for Brad’s faith throughout his two year health battle. Details for the memorial service are still being finalised.
Please be praying for other families who have loved ones that are seriously ill. Let us uphold Ken and Kathy and Trish who are giving care to relatives. May the hope of Christ be precious to all.
On January 17, we are holding Worship and Leadership seminars. More details next week.
Have you noticed the newly planted church gardens are starting to grow? We look forward to moving to the new worship centre in the coming months.
I wanted to ask that we don’t park too close to the Hardware store so that the customers have easy access to this business. We certainly don’t want to negatively impact the business in any way.
There is a large car park behind the Post Office in Crescent Street with an easy walk through to the Cultural Centre.
I look forward to catching up tomorrow,
Blessing Pastor Alan

Saturday 27th December 2025:

Hi everyone,

We are just back from Rocky after spending a wonderful Christmas with our family.  I trust you all looked towards Jesus as the reason for the season.
The end of the year draws near. Tomorrow, Pastor Amanda has prepared a special powerpoint looking back over this amazing year. God is so good!
Tomorrow’s message completes our Messiah series – Jesus our good Shepherd.
Read Matthew 2:6, Ezekiel 34 and John 10:12-14 True leadership.
We will have some fun worksheets for the children and I will have some sweet prizes for those who show me their work after the service.
We will have a catch up cuppa available after the service.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow,
Blessings Pastor Alan

Christmas 2025

Good morning everyone,

The first Christmas began spectacularly with angels filling the sky with praises to God. The message given to the terrified shepherds was GOOD NEWS for the whole world. Today, in the town of David, a Saviour has been born to you, he is the Messiah, the Lord. God’s rescue mission had commenced. He sent his one and only son to come to earth and be the forgiver of sins and the reconciliation back to the Father. Little did the shepherds or the angels know just how much of a sacrifice the rescue mission would require. But in that moment in the field outside Bethlehem, all was joy and praise for the miracle of Jesus coming to the earth.
May we all reflect and rejoice that God loves us so much.
Tomorrow at 8am we gather for a Christmas Celebration service at the Cultural Centre.  We aim to be finished within the hour and then all go on to our Christmas Day activities. We won’t be having a cuppa after this service and thankfully will not be required to pack up the chairs either.
We will continue to look at Messiah from Micah 5:2 and Luke 2:8-14
May joy and wonder capture our worshiping hearts.
Karenne and I would like to wish you a blessed Christmas and pray your joy in the Lord shines to all you are sharing with. May the gift of the Saviour be the reason we celebrate.
Pastor Alan

Saturday 20th December 2025:

Hi everyone,

The promise that God would send His Son to save us was prophesied all the way back in Genesis. (Gen.3:16/49:10) Satan may have tricked man into the bondage of sin and death, but an amazing rescue plan was promised.
When Jesus was born even the angels couldn’t help but fill the sky in joyful song. It is the only time in human history that such a heavenly choir was ever witnessed. Jesus has come to be our Saviour.
Tomorrow we start a series looking at the Messiah. Read Isaiah 7:13-14. The comforting news for a besieged Judea became great news for all mankind.
It’s also time for our Bougainville Bucket where our few coins or notes go towards helping the church in Bougainville.
Some great news!! We will be able to leave our chairs set up over the coming Christmas break so please check with Janet before packing up anything.
Christmas service will be at 8am this Thursday at the Cultural Centre.

Please continue to pray for Sharon Mollers mum Elsie as she is praying to be able to go home from hospital on Monday.
Keep praying for the true message of Christmas to enter the hearts of our community. What a present to receive!
Pray for all who have to work over the break. Police, Health and Age care and other essential workers. Also, for those who are alone amongst the celebrations.
I pray that each of you will dwell on Christ and shine in your families this Christmas. May His love and Peace be yours,
Blessings Pastor Alan
